Our main goal was to have a lovely dog that people say “isn’t he good!” and we have achieved just that. We’ve been attending classes, social walks and courses for years and would highly recommend all of them. The positive reward approach that Beth and the team use is incredible rewarding for both owners and dogs. We have now been through the puppy training twice with our two cocker spaniels and I couldn’t imagine a better dog training school! I was first made aware of Barking Buds when training my bmd to become a therapy dog with TDT UK. Beth and Faith were fantastic in supporting Bootz gets certified. Since then I have volunteered at the Youth Trainers Program, gained a second bmd, continued to support the YTP with both dogs. As well as attending social walks, supporting the TMP and enjoying Rally sessions with my younger BMD, who currently has a little too much enthusiasm to be a therapy dog but loves a task. I have recommended BB to friends and family and the community is fantastic. Duggie went along to their puppy programme from 13 weeks old and found the positive game based training so enjoyable and beneficial. As a result of his training we still get comments about how well balanced and focused he is. Noticing just how well Duggie was responding to, and thoroughly enjoying, training we continued onto the immersion classes. These were incredibly useful once Duggie reached the ‘teenage stage’ and everyone at Barking Buds was always there for reassurance and advice. Despite being over 13 months Duggie still loves helping out at youth training and going on the social walks. I was lucky enough to be one of the first couple of people on to the barking buds trainer mentorship program and I can say that is without a doubt one of the best things I ever did. Alongside developing both my knowledge and practical application of dog training it was also a massive part of me developing the confidence to speak to and teach, not just people I have never met on one too one basis but also large groups at the same time. Beth ensured that i constantly felt in control whilst pushing me to progress out of my comfort zone and develop as a trainer. As someone that also suffers with a chronic pain condition Beth always made sure to adapt her methods not only to suit myself but so i knew for the future how to adapt them to clients with disabilities.
